I always knew I wanted to set my own hours and have the ability to determine my own income while building something for my future. LegalShield was just what I was looking for! My LegalShield business provides me the opportunity to care for my four children. My oldest son, Carter, is working full time while my middle son, Drew, is serving our country in the Air Force and just got married to MaKayla over Christmas! My youngest son, Nolan, loves to surf, swim and continues to search for the best waves. Kennedy is in third grade and already has her own YouTube Channel. She is also on a company dance team four days a week. It doesn’t get any better than that!
Prior to LegalShield, I worked part time as an office manager and held an insurance license. After earning my bachelor’s degree with a major in sociology from the University of California, Irvine, I married and started a family. LegalShield came at a perfect time in my life. I knew with three children at the time, I wasn’t going to re-enter Corporate America to work for someone else.
My sponsor, Ian Carter, whom I call my “hero and dad” introduced me to Larry Smith what seems like a few years ago. I showed up to meet Larry in sweats and a T-shirt. After the meeting, I was sold. Don’t ever judge a book by its cover. Then the top associate for the company, Dave Savula, came to California and held a training in Larry’s office. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I knew after that day there would be no going back. The LegalShield opportunity just keeps getting better and better.
I wouldn’t have made it without the skeptics. My most successful and challenging recruiting story was a friend named Scott who I thought would see how great this company was at the start. After two years, he finally agreed to come with me to a business briefing to see Dave Savula. For two years his skepticism was my motivation. Larry and Doni Smith are my mentors who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself and taught me to “treat the beginning of the month like the end” in addition to “keep doing what you’re doing and do more of it.”
I started my LegalShield business in 1996 as a single mother who hit many bumps along the way. Had I not joined LegalShield, I would be in a Corporate America rut looking for a way out, or I would have been fired due to the downsizing in America.
In 1998, I received the “Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year” award from the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). I was featured in the March 2000 issue of Orange Coast Magazine in the article “Workplace—How’s Your Timing,” and in 2001, I was inducted into NAWBO’s Hall of Fame for Remarkable Women. I am the Senior Vice President of Group Marketing for California, and I was the sixth Top Producer in the company in 2005. I am also the first single woman and single mother to be a $300,000 ring earner, Platinum 7 Executive Director and Millionaire Club member. In 2010, I received the prestigious award of Group Trainer of the Year. In December 2018, I personally sold 500 memberships in just one month. I focus on marketing LegalShield as an employee benefit to companies and specialize in working with the top 20 insurance brokers. I’ve personally sold over 15,000 memberships. I continue to be one of the top producers in the company for membership sales and am considered an expert in the area of group marketing. I have no hidden talents. I want to inspire, motivate and continue to educate women across this nation that if I can do it with no business or networking background as a single mother, YOU CAN TOO! I tell all new associates this is a relationship business. Duplication is the key. Do what successful people do! We are in the sorting business, not the convincing business.
